HOW TO ORDER YOUR LLEWELLYN

Ordering your Llewellyn frame or Bicycle is simple. I welcome national and international orders. I ship many frames worldwide; throughout Australia, Asia, and to the USA, Canada, and Europe. The basic process is the same no matter where you are. The payment methods, tax, and shipping make the differences between national and international orders.

You will find an outline of frame models and some basic, approximate prices in the bicycle and finish level pages here on the web site. Email me for a current list of prices.

Initial Discussion

When you decide to have me build you a Llewellyn, we first chat by phone, via Skype, or email about your needs and desires. Later on a phone call or Skype chat gets a lot more info passed between us and this is much better at the start than both of us typing loads of information between us. (Email is good for sending pictures and the little odds and ends, I do have a fax number if you need to send information that way. Please ask if that is the case.)

Quote

You can skip a step and go straight to getting in the queue, or when the direction of your desired Llewellyn build is determined I send you a full quote for the frame/bike cost and also the shipping costs. If you are outside Australia, the frame is an Australian export our 10% Goods and Services Tax {GST} does not apply to your purchase. International shipping is by TNT International and at your risk. However a quote and arrangment for full insurance cover can supplied.

Agreement and Getting in the QUEUE

If all is in agreement then a $500.00 AUD non-refundable deposit puts your build in the queue and starts you on your way to your new Llewellyn! See Payment Details below for ...well...payment details. I will advise at the time of ordering the expected approximate delivery time. Delivery can 3-8 months away from the order date depending on the season.

Gathering Your Position Data

The most important part of the new frame is the design, this is based on you, your measurements and biomechanical assessment. Determining and measuring your position data {contact points of your body on the bike} is the first important step in creating your new Llewellyn. The form of the bike comes after the design of the bike. I design the frame to fit under your position. I do not build your frame to particular pre-selected frame dimensions, rather I use your position data and I design the frame to fit under you for the bike’s intended use. I am happy to discuss these details with you. If you have your existing position data and are happy with this, then I will supply a position data form to fill out. Or we may have to work on determining your position data. Just using your body dimensions and existing measurement tables to determine your riding position is a flawed approach as it will not take into account your current posture and flexibility and other biomechanical problems you may have.

I suggest, if you can to try to have a biomechanical cycling assessment by Dr. Brian McLean. Dr. McLean specializes in cycling biomechanics. We have worked together for many years and I highly I recommend that you have Dr. McLean evaluate your riding position. Dr McLean lives and works in Brisbane. I can provide Dr. McLean's contact information when we start discussing your new bicycle.

We will also need pictures of you on your existing bike. We will chat about how this is done and I can send you a form with pictures of how this is done when you place your order.

Wait patiently

Wait patiently. Wait patiently. Wait Patiently!

Designing Your Llewellyn

When your frame nears it’s turn in the build queue I notify you that your time is near and send you a CAD drawing of your position and the frame that goes under you. This design is confirmed and signed off by you and a metal working payment of $1,000 AUD is required for Signature finish level frames or $2,000 AUD for Lucentezza finish frames.

Metal Work Begins

As I build your frame I email you some photos of the progress each day. This brings you a little closer to appreciating and enjoying the construction process of your bespoke Llewellyn. If the paint details have not been confirmed then now is a good time we do this. Go here to find more information on Paint Details.

Wait patiently.

When the frame returns from Joe Cosgrove’s paint magic I finish post paint detailing. Then I send you pictures of the completed frame which is now ready to ship. Full payment of the balance is now due. When this is paid the frame is packed and shipped. Wait patiently. Shipping takes 7-10 working days. Now the US has a customs holding wait of 3 days added on top of this.
