CARBON FORKS

Good carbon forks can enhance a bicycles performance but there are many light forks, which give woeful handling due to their inadequate lateral stiffness. This allows the fork to twist when under cornering, pedalling loads and coupled with road surface feed back gives the bicycle a very indirect response to directional input. Basically this means the bike makes direction changes in corners without input from the rider, rather the rider learns to cope and adjust to these handling idiosyncrasies. But it is carbon so it must be good is many a perception. Most fork companies buy their forks from the same manufactures and the design is of little importance.
I have a preference for COLUMBUS and REYNOLDS forks because they understand the importance of handling performance, not just weight considerations in the design and construction of their products.

Price as substitute for a steel fork in a steel frame.

COLUMBUS "CARVE"

A good fork with the required lateral stiffness to ensure
Excellent handling qualities which other sometimes lighter
And cheaper forks DO NOT POSSESS!
Aluminium crown and steerer.

COLUMBUS "MUSCLE"

A complete carbon fork with a titanium mesh covering
This is claimed to increase the dampening effect of the fork.

Recommended for lighter riders and race bikes.
[I have to see more of these forks in use to be 100% convinced]

STAINLESS STEEL OPTIONS

Stainless steel polished lugs, b/b, fork crown and dropouts are available for lugged steel frames.
These are truly beautiful, giving the frame a classic sexy appearance that has disappeared due to mass production frames with out the problems of chrome plating.
These lugs can be customised so that you can have a personalised frame. I import and use "Henry James" frame fittings from the USA.

Enquire about prices and painting.

LASER cut stainless steel name signature on the top tube instead of your name transfer.

Still under development. Price on application

For that special frame that no other person in the world can have.

Custom hand cut lugs. To my knowledge there is no frame constructor in Australia who offers this ability to create and craft custom designed lugs.

Simple variations in standard lugs to very complex designs in special custom lug blanks are possible. This is very labour intensive and quote is on application.
